What is a bedside cot?
A bedside crib (also called a co-sleeper or bassinet) is a small infant crib that can be attached to your adult bed, allowing your infant to sleep in a safe environment with you. This is a secure form of co-sleeping that doesn't increase the risk of SIDS, like bedsharing. It also helps you bond with your newborn baby.

Many of them are portable or foldable making them suitable for travel and as an interim solution for infants that aren't yet ready to move into a crib that is large enough.
Find a crib that has a mattress that is breathable, as well as a protective cover that will shield your baby from stains. You might also want to purchase baby-safe items such as an infant blanket or a teether.
If you are looking for a more long-term solution, some cribs come with conversion kits that allow you to transform them into a toddler bed or cot when the time is appropriate. This can extend their lifespan and make the transition a lot easier. Some have a removable section at the top that can be turned into a bassinet. Other models can be used in conjunction with an adult bed that is standard or a high-rise bed. This is a great option for families who are planning to frequently travel or switch between bedrooms in the evening. This can soothe baby into sleep with a gentle beat that doesn't disrupt their normal sleeping pattern. This is great for older babies and toddlers who are struggling to settle and can help with digestive issues such as colic and reflux.
The crib can also be fixed to the side of the bed by clips and straps. This makes it very stable and secure allowing you to enjoy a peaceful night's rest without worrying about your child sliding off into the middle of the room. There are six different height settings, including an incline setting to aid with congestion and reflux.
Contrary to some cribs that are placed on the bed which can be a nightmare to clean due to their constant stream of snot and dribble, the Tutti Bambini CoZeeAir comes with a wipe-clean liner and fabric that can be washed in the machine. It also comes with a top bar that can be easily lowered to allow for feeding at night without the need to juggle zips.
Anna discovered that the CoZee was a comfortable and safe place to sleep for her baby. She loved that it didn't sway like some other models, so it didn't wake her up at night while she was trying to comfort her baby during feeds. She also enjoyed the fact that the side could be lowered so she didn't have to reach out over her partner to pull the baby out to feed her at night.
bedside crib co sleeper CoZee is available in charcoal and oak and is a beautiful addition to the bedroom. It looks more like an elegant piece of furniture than some of the other cribs we've tried, which look quite utilitarian in comparison. It is also relatively light at 11kg, and comes with a carry-on case that allows you to take it on holiday or even when you move house. The only things you'll need to buy are a waterproof cover and a co-sleeping safety strap. The instructions and pictures are simple to follow when you first open the box.
The Maxi-Cosi lora
The Iora is a bedside bassinet that helps parents feel connected to their infant as they sleep. It adjusts upwards and downwards and moves through three slide positions to fit beside the bed of the parent, or in the corner of the room to ensure that your baby is close at hand. The mesh siding allows air to circulate through, allowing you to quickly see your baby. And you can store extra pajamas and supplies in the large storage basket underneath.
The Iora is a smaller bedside cot that can fold flat. It also comes with a travel case to allow it to be carried anywhere. Our mom testers found it easy to move from room to room and felt that it was a good size for a small bedside cot, and not too big or small. They also loved the large storage basket, perfect for storing spare bedding or nappies.
This is a great choice for parents who want to sleep in a co-sleeping bed but don't want to share their bed. Also, if one of the partners has mobility issues such as back pain or arthritis. Our mom testers are thrilled with the convenience of being able to access their baby in the Iora and that it comes with an adjustable reflux incline that can aid in reducing gas.
Our mothers are also thrilled that it meets NICE guidelines that state to put the baby in a crib or Moses basket on its own (with no blankets, toys pillows, etc.). They also state that the mattress is comfortable and firm for babies and is easy to find sheets for. It's not as light as other cribs that are smaller on our list, so if you prefer something lighter and easier to move, you can choose another alternative.
